Thurley has made its much-anticipated return to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) with the unveiling of the Resort 20 Collection ‘UTOPIA’ , showcasing to over 300 guests at Carriageworks, Gallery II.

Inspired by the mythical, underwater city of Atlantis that has fascinated and captivated treasure hunters for centuries, the Resort 20 collection, ‘UTOPIA’ told the tale of the perfect civilisation lost in time. Shells, sea creatures and pearls had been expertly woven into each and every garment, resembling a treasure trove of the sea’s gifts, brought to the surface and given new life.

Over 45 pieces hit the runway with the collection taking after the ethereal Grecian goddesses that once lived in the mythical, underwater city, ‘UTOPIA’ also marked a return to Thurley’s signature roots that earned them a cult-like following both locally and internationally.

“For this collection, I have rediscovered draping and plaiting in fluid, languid fabrications such as silk tulle, silk yoryu and silk jersey and revisiting techniques I explored a decade ago when building Thurley’s foundation,’ ‘ said Founder & Creative Director, Helen O’Connor.

Key guests sitting front row at the showcase included Isabel Lucas, Alli Simpson, Sammy Robinson, Kate & Hoda Waterhouse, Ksenija Lukich, Nikki Phillips, Sam Frost, Ruby & Lucy Brownless, Abbey Gelmi, Jade Tuncdoruk, Simone Holtznagel, Melissa Whitelaw, Laura Byrne, Tegan Martin & Elouise Morris.

‘UTOPIA’ also included new luxurious, wardrobe essential garments and accessories that can be styled for everyday, as Thurley expands the range for both formal and day-to-day wear. The ‘UTOPIA’ collection is available to purchase from Thurley’s flagship Armadale and The Strand boutiques, major David Jones stores and various stockists worldwide from October, 2019.
